The Upper Valley All Health Hazards Planning Region (AHHR) is composed of thirteen municipalities within the counties of Grafton and Sullivan, New Hampshire. Altogether, the population of the region is approximately 42,000, ranging from 300 to 13,000 in each town. Since its inception the AHHR has built a collaboration of organizations from the health and human services as well as emergency services to prepare the region for public health emergencies.
The Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) is the primary coordinating entity in the region and was formed with the common goal of preparing the region for public health emergencies and to coordinate the regional preparedness efforts amongst and between the thirteen towns and the State of Vermont.
The RCC is composed of: · Public Health Professionals, · Emergency Response Agencies, · Healthcare Workers, · Volunteer Agencies, · Schools and School Nurses, · Visiting Nursing Association, · Local Health Officers, Emergency Management Directors, · Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, · Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, · Dartmouth College, · Members of Vermont Department of Health, · and many more!
What is a public health emergency? Public health emergencies put the citizens of NH at risk and can be caused by natural disasters, such as hurricanes, snowstorms and forest fires, communicable disease outbreak, a food borne disease outbreak, bioterrorism and chemical accidents.
Does the Region have a plan for public health emergencies? Yes, the RCC members work together to update the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Response Plan for the Region in case of an emergency.
